Singer Koo Ha-ra's agency has denied rumors that the former member of K-pop girl group KARA had attempted suicide.
Content Y said she was taken to the Severance Hospital of the Yonsei University Health System in Seoul Wednesday for treatment of a sleep disorder and indigestion.
"Koo has been receiving treatments," the agency said. "She visited hospital to check her condition after taking medicines. She was hospitalized to have a check-up and will leave the hospital within one to two days."
The agency said the singer is not in a serious condition.
A hospital spokesperson said: "We cannot reveal whether the cause of Koo's hospitalization is a suicide attempt or not. It is also hard to disclose if she was voluntarily hospitalized or was brought in in a coma."
Koo debuted as a member of KARA in 2008. The team enjoyed global popularity, especially in Japan, with hits "Pretty Girl" and "Wanna" until it disbanded in 2016. Koo is appearing on JTBC4 show "My Mad Beauty Diary." She is also forging an acting career.
