The Korean drama "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" ― based on a webtoon that deals with "lookism" and plastic surgery issues ― will go to air on July 27 via JTBC.
"Gangnam Beauty" refers to women who have plastic surgery in clinics in Gangnam, Seoul, to have ideal, but similar looks.
The drama is about a college student Kang Mi-rae, mocked for being unattractive.
Before entering university, she has surgery and becomes beautiful, but becomes the center of gossip for her pretty but "unnatural" appearance.
However, through unexpected experience at the school, Kang discovers "genuine beauty" in the end.
The story focuses on the tendency to evaluate and criticize people, especially women, on the basis of their looks.
Im Soo-hyang will play the female lead role, with Cha Eun-woo, from K-pop boy band ASTRO, playing her partner, Do Kyung-seok.
The original webtoon was first published on Naver Comics in 2016, and garnered great popularity among people.
